Registered Architect
Full Job Description
Western Kentucky Architect with over 39 years of successful practice in multiple states seeks a Registered Architect with no less than 5 years of experience to join the firm.

We enjoy a casual, family oriented work environment. The ideal candidate will be well organized, very detail oriented, able to multi-task, and feel comfortable working on a team and independently. Strong interpersonal skills are preferred since the position will meet with clients, planners, and contractors.
Advanced knowledge of the architectural design process, construction documentation, administration and materials is essential. Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit is required. Compensation will be based on level of education and experience.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Architecture and 5+ years of experience is minimal. We will train. Experienced architect is desired.
- A portfolio is required.
- Must be licensed. The ability to become licensed in the state of Tennessee and Kentucky is expected.
- LEED AP preferred but not required.
- Experience in education (K-12, Higher Ed), government and municipal projects, sports, correctional and industrial work are all a plus.
- Motivated and energetic leader willing to take initiative and tackle any task
- Detail Oriented
- Experienced in preparing contracts and negotiating project scope, schedule
- Ability to work independently or with a team
- Practical knowledge of general architecture practice including programming, site planning, and structural concepts
- Excellent knowledge of architectural design documentation, detailing, building materials and codes, construction techniques, as well as building material compatibility and characteristics
- Ability to oversee production, and mentor junior staff
- Ability to manage client and consultant relationships

Skills:
- Proficient in use of Autodesk Revit, and AutoCad.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Sketchup
- Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, 3-D Studio Max, and Enscape experience

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience in preparation and layout of architectural contract documents and specifications required.
- Strong knowledge of code and good planning skills
- Ability to lead and manage projects as needed
- Experience in business development, marketing, and client presentation is a plus
- Graphic presentation skills

Strong interpersonal skills are preferred since the position will meet with clients, planners, and contractors.
We are looking for an innovative Architectural and Civil Engineering Drafter to collaborate with our architects, interior designers, and engineers to design, develop and construct a range of commercial projects from conception through to completion. Our ideal candidate has a degree in architectural drafting or engineering drafting, and experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup and other computer-aided design programs. A certificate from the American Design Drafting Association is a plus but not required. You must submit a portfolio of previous designs you have worked on with your application.
Responsibilities
- Discuss the scope and expectations of the project with Principal Architect and/or Engineers
- Collaborate with architects, interior designers, and engineers on the team to determine the initial design
- Submit the design to the client for feedback and update it as necessary
- Analyze your design to ensure it meets client specifications before submitting a final version
Requirements and Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor degree in architectural drafting
- Certification from American Design Drafting Association (not required)
- Excellent math and communication skills
- Must be able to work well on a team
- Proficiency with common drafting programs
- Experience with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Project
- Experience with Photoshop and InDesign a plus
- Outstanding communication skills

JKS Architecture is seeking a highly-skilled and experienced Civil Engineer with a minimum of 5 years experience to join our firm. Our ideal candidate has experience in water, wastewater, stormwater, and site development.
This position will assist in the oversight of the design and construction of various municipal structures. From the planning stages through the construction process, you will supervise and be responsible for document completion and construction oversight. We are looking for an innovative Civil Engineer to collaborate with our architects, interior designers, and engineers to design, develop, and construct a range of commercial projects from conception through to completion. We are a diverse firm with experience in Judicial, Educational, Detention, Industrial, and more. Our ideal candidate has at least five years of professional engineering experience and a substantial portfolio of successful design projects. A Certified Survey Technician is highly desirable.
An ideal candidate will be an organized, self-motivated individual who is detail-oriented, able to multi-task well, and feels comfortable working on a team and independently. This position requires significant attention to detail, punctuality, ability to prioritize multiple projects at the same time, and strong interpersonal skills, as well as outstanding communication skills with employees, clients, planners, and contractors. Compensation will be based on level of education and experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Analyze survey reports, maps, plans, and other relevant information for project planning.
- Submitting permit applications for projects with multiple regulations to appropriate local, state, and federal agencies.
- Budget construction costs and risk analysis for projects.
- Design and implement plans and simulations using 2-D or 3-D computer software.
- Oversee survey operations for construction.
- Motivated and energetic leader willing to take initiative and tackle any task.
- Ability to oversee production and mentor junior staff.
- Detail focused.
- Ability to work independently or with a team.
- Ability to manage client and consultant relationships.
- Coordinate all documentation associated with construction, RFI’s, change orders and document submissions.
- Prepare responses and documentation to address construction related questions, RFI’s, change orders, all affidavits and field reports.
- Deliver thorough construction documentation, focused detailing, and contract administration.
SKILLS
- Proficient in AutoCAD and civil engineering design software, such as Civil #D and ARC GIS.
- Experience with mathematical computing and analysis tools knowledge (Matlab, LabView).
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong knowledge of code and good planning skills.
- Ability to lead and manage projects as needed.
